Taj TV issues ‘cease & desist’ on Hathway Cable

Subhash Chandra-backed Taj TV has told India’s giant MSO Hathway Cable & Datacom to stop retransmission of channels it is distributing. The notice applies to all ZEEL channels, Zee Media and Turner India’s networks. Star India has already issued (July 9) a similar demand to Hathway, and Star has further alleged that Hathway has failed to honour obligations in filing regular subscriber updates.
In essence the disputes are over alleged non-payment of carriage fees and the late signing of a new subscription and interconnect agreement, and the notice applies to both conventional cable distribution as well as digital addressable encrypted services.
Reportedly the negotiations with Hathway have been going on for some time. Hathway has 7.8 million active subscribers.
