Owner Naspers says that its Multichoice pay-TV operation saw “record” gains of 556,000 subs (y-o-y) to the end of March.
Multichoice says that this takes its overall total to 7.3 million “spread over 48 countries on the African continent”.
Revenues grew a healthy 18 per cent to 17.1 billion Rand, however increased investment in expanding DTT services in many of those countries meant that trading profit for the business grew only slightly by 11 per cent (y-o-y) to 4.5 billion Rand.
