Al Jazeera and AT&T reach US accord

Qatar-based Al Jazeera has settled its dispute with US telecoms giant AT&T over the telco’s refusal to carry the Al Jazeera America channel.
The two have asked a Delaware judge to dismiss the claim, which centres on Al Jazeera’s wish to see its English-language channel carried on AT&T’s U-verse pay-TV bouquet.
The squabble centred on the terms of a carriage deal, and the Qatari news channel had argued that U-verse had broken and terminated a contract.
The end result will see Al Jazeera America carried by U-verse, although details of the actual settlement have not been made public.
