Massive Interactive delivers HbbTV for Australia FreeviewPlus
April 9, 2014
Massive Interactive, an expert in platform software and design for multiscreen TV Everywhere entertainment, has delivered what it says is the first HbbTV based service in Australia for FreeviewPlus.
FreeviewPlus is a new service that provides access to content from Australia’s free-to air networks, embracing the latest update to the Australian broadcast standard that incorporates HbbTV functionality for dual broadcast and IP content delivery. FreeviewPlus will be available through new connected receivers carrying the FreeviewPlus logo, including panel TVs, set top boxes and recording devices.
The FreeviewPlus solution is built around the Massivision Managed Video Platform (MVP), which includes Massive’s Multi-screen Development Kit and Storefront Manager (MDK and MSM) products, and will deliver the most advanced, user-friendly free-to-air EPG experience in Australia, with catch-up services accessed from a single interface on TV screens for the first time.
“Working with Massive Interactive has enabled us to create an unprecedented service that our member free-to-air networks are proud to present to the Australian consumer market,” said Liz Ross, General Manager of Freeview. “Massive Interactive’s ability to provide a cost-effective, robust and scalable service that delivers a simple, attractive and easy to navigate HbbTV EPG user interface through their MVP, is the key technology enabler for the FreeviewPlus service.”
