March 3, 2014
QuickPlay Media has revealed it will work with AT&T to develop an in-vehicle video service. The offering will be powered by QuickPlay’s OpenVideo platform and will deliver live linear TV and streaming VoD services to automotive manufacturers collaborating in the AT&T Drive Studio, the connected car innovation centre in the US.
QuickPlay’s solution will enable AT&T to provide in-car “infotainment” by delivering secure streaming of hundreds of linear TV channels and hours of VoD content. The solution includes a configurable, customisable client application, support for adaptive streaming, complete content protection with DRM solutions like Microsoft PlayReady, user entitlements, dynamic advertising, banner ad support, multi-language support and featured content.
“In-vehicle video services are going play a crucial part in making the next generation of connected cars. AT&T is proud to support and enhance the in-vehivle experience and bring this new, strategically important frontier in media entertainment to the automotive industry,” said Chris Penrose, senior vice president, emerging devices, AT&T Mobility.
