Aston reinforces presence in Russian market

Nick Snow @ CSTB
For the third year running, Aston is participating at CSTB, confirming its presence in the Russian market and the CIS region. Aston already has a permanent on-site liaison office in charge of expanding its presence in this market. CSTB is an opportunity for Aston to present its technological innovations especially customised for the Russian market.
Presented as a prototype at the last CSTB, the new platform Maya HD is now ready for market and is unveiled for the first time in its final version. Economically optimised for high-volume markets, this platform has the distinction of being HbbTV 1.5 Ready. As a result, with a simple software update, all Maya HD already installed in existing operator networks can become compatible with HbbTV applications.
Aston offers a platform available in either satellite, cable or terrestrial models, incorporating version 1.5 of HbbTV and management of DRM (Digital Rights Management) to control the rights of encrypted content in broadband mode. The operators can provide their customers with enriched and premium options: VoD, HbbTV content offered by additional TV channels, catch-up TV guide, interactive programmes, practical services (traffic information, weather…), etc.
At Aston’s CSTB 2014 stand, the company presents the Maya HD platform in its customised NTV+ version, the result of an active partnership between the operator and the manufacturer.
