On Digital Media (ODM), which traded in South Africa as TopTV, has formally asked local regulator, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA), to transfer its licence to China-backed StarTimes Media.
StarTimes is bailing out ODM which has been in the local version of Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection for more than a year.
The formal request was published in the official Government Gazette, and requesting that interested parties should file any objections as to why the ODM transmission licence should not be transferred within 14 days.
