Sony to build new studio complex for Al Jazeera

Local press reports state that Sony Corp is contracting with Al Jazeera to expand studio facilities and technologies for the Arabic broadcasting region. The Doha News is reporting that Shoji Nemoto, an EVP and member of Sony’s executive board, announced a $160 million deal during a visit to Qatar.
“Al Jazeera is… one of the biggest TV broadcasters in the world and we are ready to support and upgrade their system to give the best content – not only to Qatar, but globally,” said Nemoto.
Additionally, Sony is backing a tuition programme in cooperation with the Northwestern University in Qatar to help train students in media.
