Brazil’s pay-TV market still on fast track

Brazil’s pay-TV market is still growing at a very rapid rate. The latest data from regulator Anatel states that at the end of August 17.33 million homes were subscribing, up 14.3 per cent y-o-y., and up 2.2 million over the past 12 months.
Net Servicos was the largest pay-TV operator with 5.7 million clients, and Claro reached 3.4 million which means that Embratel (which controls both companies) has 9.1 million subscribers.
DTH operator Sky Brazil enjoyed 5.25 million subs, while Oi had 919,000, with GVT having 565,000 and Telefonica 539,000.
