November 4, 2013

HBO Latin America and Sony Pictures Television have signed a multi-year extension to their current agreement for Sony Pictures’ features across HBO channels in 24 countries across Latin America, Brazil and the Caribbean.
The deal gives HBO Latin America exclusive first-run pay-TV rights to a range of live-action and animated films from Sony including Captain Phillips, Django Unchained, The Smurfs and the Spider-Man and Men in Black franchises.
“Motion pictures are an important form of entertainment across Latin America, the Caribbean and Brazil, and the extension of this agreement reiterates the significant role they continue to play in the pay TV market,” said Alexander Marin, senior vice president, distribution, Latin America for SPT.
