Forecast: 1bn CA client installs by 2014

The global installed base of conditional access (CA) clients in set-top boxes (STB) is expected to exceed 1 billion units for the first time in 2014 as growth is driven by expanding demand in the emerging regions of Latin America, India and China.
The installed base of CA STB clients will rise to 1.1 billion units in 2014, up from 14 percent in 2013, and more than doubling the 479 million seen just five years earlier in 2009, according to the latest Conditional Access Market Monitor from IHS.
