The final episode of Breaking Bad that aired in the US on Sunday night was the most pirated episode of the show, with 500,000 copies being downloaded within the first 12 hours of an illegal copy surfacing online, according to figures from TorrentFreak.
A reported 18 per cent of the AMC show’s pirated downloads came from Australia, 14.5 per cent from the US and 9.3 per cent from the UK.
At the peak of Sunday night’s download activity, more than 85,000 people were simultaneously sharing a single copy of the episode via BitTorrent, the peer-to-peer file sharing site.
HBO’s Game of Thrones still holds the dubious record for highest BitTorrent traffic ever recorded, with more than 170,000 people sharing a single copy at once
