A week after its success in garnering two Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards for its series House of Cards, online entertainment service Netflix has marked another first for non-linear programming, with the political thriller being awarded the Best Director of a Drama Series Emmy after David Fincher won the award, edging out directors from Boardwalk Empire, Breaking Bad, Downton Abbey and Homeland.
House of Cards was responsible for nine of Netflix’s 14 Primetime Emmy nominations. The others were three nominations for Arrested Development and two for Hemlock Grove.
