Skyworth dominates India STB market

Hong Kong-based set-top box manufacturer Skyworth has a 38 per cent market share of India’s fast-growing set-top box sector, according to CIOL.com. The supply of boxes into India has grown 5 per cent since the previous quarter.
Skyworth is closely followed by Cisco, and Skynet holds 59 per cent of the market between them and are fighting to maintain a hold in the market despite an increased demand to fill a claimed 77 million shortfall in supply to cope with India’s analogue-to-digital conversion programme.
India’s Consumer Electronics and Appliances Manufacturers Association (CEAMA) is saying that soon it will be manufacturing 20 million STBs for Phase III and Phase IV of digitsation.
