The BBC’s international sales arm is to boost its presence in Latin America, and is expanding its Miami-based sales team. BBC Worldwide’s Latino income is currently about 2 per cent of its global revenues, and BBC-WW president of global markets, Paul Dempsey, says they are working to build this to 10 per cent.
The BBC recently held one of its ‘showcase’ events in Rio de Janeiro, its 10th in the region. Fred Medina, executive VP for Latin America, and quoted by local press, says that the BBC will present a more varied product portfolio, digital offers, consumer products and environment development for the brand’s incorporation.
“We hope to be able to work hand in hand with our clients in the creation of new business opportunities, which will allow us to attract a more diverse Latin American audience”, Medina added.
