Thailand pay-TV broadcaster TrueVisions says it believes that pre-pay customers to eventually represent 70 per cent of its potential market over the next three-to-five years. Initially it is targeting a 20 per cent share of the market by next year, equal to 1 million new subscribers.
TrueVisions is partnering with PSI Holdings to launch a new set-top box that will be supplied specifically for monthly-contract users. The box will cost 1,090 Thai Bhat (about €26) and the monthly pre-pay cards will be available at 7-Eleven convenience stores.
The box will also accept a 3G SIM card from sister telco TrueMove which will deliver an additional 17 channels which are part of the True Knowledge bundle at 10 Bhat per day.
Individual pay-TV channels are available on an a la carte basis at 100 Bhat per month.
