The Sun chases FA Cup digital rights
August 8, 2013
Sun publisher News UK has commenced negotiations with ITV to obtain the final year of the broadcaster’s contract for the digital rights to the FA Cup.
News UK is keen to improve its content offering behind the £2-a-week Sun digital paywall. Sun+, which launched last week, already includes digital Premier League rights secured by News UK in a £30 million-plus three-year deal in January.
The publisher has already acquried the digital FA Cup rights for four years from 2014-15, which will allow it to provide clips of goals to online and mobile users immediately after they are scored, with ITV holding the rights for this season’s tournament.
