Digital UK reveals Freeview HD proposals
August 8, 2013
Following an industry-wide consultation earlier this year, Digital UK has published a statement setting out its decisions on proposals for the Freeview HD genre. These are designed to provide clarity around the allocation of channel numbers in anticipation of the future growth of high-definition services on the platform.
The decisions focus on numbering of channels and the organisation of HD channels. It concludes HD channels will be organised together except for children’s and adult services.
The decisions do not necessitate any changes to current channel numbers.
The statement shows YouView received applications from over 130 IP-delivered channels that it expects to launch over the next year.
Digital UK says it plans to return to the issue of HD numbering at a later date.
