July 10, 2013
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spanish pay-TV penetration increased by 0.7 per cent in 2012 to 23.5 per cent of all households in the country.
The latest report from the Ontsi (National Telecommunication and Information Society Observatory), part of the Ministry of Industry, reveals “a slight year-on-year increase” that reverses the flat trend of pay-TV “over the last years”.
In the last quarter of 2012, ARPU reached €29.2 with a total expenditure of €1.213 billion in the whole year, up €100 million against the previous year.
Spaniards spent €303 million per quarter on subscription fees and €2million per quarter on PPV services.
