YahLive loses CEO

YahLive, the DTH joint venture between Abu Dhabi’s YahSat and SES of Luxembourg, has lost its CEO. Mohamed Youssif has run the DTH operation since prior to the satellite’s launch in April 2011. No word yet from YahLive other than that Youssif has left to pursue other business opportunities.
YahLive has structured itself as the ‘home of HDTV’ in the Middle East and has plenty of success in winning HD channels to its system. However, many of the channels have enjoyed a considerable period of free transmission, and this has impacted the operation’s bottom line.
The YahSat portion of the satellite – not run by Youssif – has enjoyed considerable success in supplying data-links and VSAT connectivity to customers throughout the MENA region.
YahSat/YahLive is situated at 52.5 degrees East.
