Digital file-sharing technology company BitTorrent and digital movie distribution specialist Cinedigm are joining forces to promote new movie Arthur Newman, an initiative that helps give the service a degree of legitimacy given its past association with illegal activities.
Cinedigm will invite fans to view – exclusively – the first seven minutes of the film – a romantic comedy starring Colin Firth and Emily Blunt – prior to its theatrical release. Additional materials will include stills from the film, the official ‘one-sheet’ and the film trailer.
“This is a visionary move by Cinedigm and represents a significant shift in how the media industry perceives BitTorrent,” suggested Shahi Ghanem, Chief Strategy Officer of BitTorrent, who added that Cinedigm was leading a renaissance in indie content distribution, with BitTorrent “a great fit” as a technology partner.
Arthur Newman opens in selected theatres on April 26.
