April 19, 2013
By Chris Forrester
DirecTV is spending $22 million to build a new regional broadcast centre. It already has similar facilities in Brazil and Venezuela as well as its facilities in the US. Another $10 million is earmarked for new equipment.
Jacopo Bracco, president of DirecTV’s Latino operations, led the US delegation which met Argentina’s president Christina Fernandez de Kirchner as well as the country’s Industry Minister Debora Giorgi.
The intention is to see Argentina become the hub for transmissions to Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela.
