April 18, 2013
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Despite the pressure on pay TV operators in Spain with subscribers in decline, a new OTT pay TV platform, called TotalChannel, is launching with an offer of 12 pay TV channels for €9.99 (Premium) and €14.99 (Premium XL) consisting of: AXN HD, AXN White HD, Calle 13 HD, Cosmopolitan HD, Fox HD, Fox Crime HD, National Geographic HD, Paramount Comedy, Syfy HD, TNT HD, Canal Historia and Crimen & Investigación. Catch-up services and PVR in the cloud with a virtual hard disk of up to 20 hours will also be available.
Available from this month on www.totalchannel.com, the pay-TV platform will be accessible through PC or Macs, Smart TV with Samsung and LG, via iPad and Android tablets, and games consoles – and soon the company will be launching a HDMI micro set-top-box based on Android. To access the service, users require an Internet connection of over 1.5 Mbps for SD and 3Mbps for HD transmissions.
The platform hopes to reach four million subscribers over the next four years, according to Eudald Domenech, CEO, and will compete head-on with Canal Plus’ OTT service Canal Plus Yomvi.
TotalChannel was founded in 2012 as a subsidiary of InOutTV to develop OTT services. According to the company, technological partners like Overon and Abertis are supporting the platform
