Arris to complete Motorola Home purchase

Arris will this week wrap up its $2.35 billion purchase of Motorola Home, from Google, along with the 2000-plus patents held by the business. Last week the US Department of Justice gave its approval to the deal, originally announced last December.
The purchase came about following Google’s $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility along with its mobile handset and set-top box divisions. The sale of Motorola Home in essence involves the company’s set-top box division.
Arris paid a total of $2.35 billion in a cash+shares deal, and in return gets its hands on about $880 millions-worth of quarterly revenues and a set-top box division that has supply links with many US cable MSOs.
