Live football record audience for Dailymotion
March 28, 2013
The France vs Spain World Cup Qualifier attracted the most UK online views ever for a live football match on Dailymotion. The match on March 26th attracted nearly 80,000 views – despite competition from the England vs Montenegro match live on ITV.
Dailymotion secured rights to live stream the match in the UK, alongside the previous France vs Georgia qualifier, as part of a deal with the French Football Federation.
The majority of figures came from national media, to whom Dailymotion offered the opportunity to embed the player free of charge. The Guardian alone attracted over 30,000 views. The match was also streamed by The Daily Mail, The Telegraph, The Sun, The Independent, The Express and Football365.
Marc Eychenne, Head of International Content at Dailymotion, said: “This is a win for everyone. The sites that stream the broadcast attract additional views, our partners get their content distributed more widely and advertisers and sponsors get more exposure.”
