Entone launches Caribbean Pay-TV service
December 5, 2012
Entone, provider of Hybrid TV and Connected Home solutions, has announced that Cable & Wireless Communication’s (CWC) Caribbean division, LIME, has selected its FusionTV solution to power what it claims is the world’s first premium Pay-TV service delivered over the Internet.
With adaptive bitrate (ABR) and HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) technologies, Entone’s FusionTV solution ensures uninterrupted video delivery across any network – enabling LIME to reliably deliver its PayTV service over various network conditions. By connecting an Entone Hybrid TV device to a broadband network, LIME subscribers can instantly access over 130 channels and stream OTT services via a seamless user interface.
LIME’s basic TV service channel lineup includes programmes from major US networks such as ABC, CBS and NBC, sports from ESPN, music from MTV, children’s channel Nickelodeon, as well as news and lifestyle programmes from Warner Brothers and BBC America. LIME has also launched LIMEstyle, its own channel for showcasing its latest products, services and promotions.
“The prospect of delivering premium PayTV services over the Internet is often discussed as a possibility of the future,” commented Steve McKay, CEO of Entone. “Entone is proud to partner with LIME to make that future vision a reality today, setting the stage for other global operators seeking to leverage the Internet for the delivery of Hybrid TV services for the benefit of their consumers.”
