BSkyB developing STB with Roku
November 14, 2012
BSkyB is working with Roku on a set-top box to distribute to subscribers its new online TV service according to Anthony Wood, chief executive officer for Roku
The hardware will connect TV sets to BSkyB’s Now TV, enabling customers to view movies, live sports and other videos available through the online service, Wood revealed in an interview.
BSkyB, which debuted Now TV in July, is responding to increased competition from companies such as Netflix and LOVEFiLM. It’s Now TV streaming service can be currently accessed through computers, mobile and other devices – and the STB giving TV access will be available next year, Wood said.
