November 12, 2012
Spacecom, operator of the Amos satellite fleet, has announced that OFIVE TV, Africa’s first international Alternative TV network, is now a part of the French broadcast bouquet on the Amos-5 communications satellite located at 17°E. SatLink Communications is providing the TV distribution platform on the satellite.
OFIVE TV, headquartered in Paris with broadcasts to over 60 countries worldwide, offers 24-hour television programming consisting of music videos, artist interviews, documentaries, TV shows, movies, sports, and general entertainment.
From its 17°E orbital position, Amos-5 provides powerful C-band and Ku-band beams for supplying broadcast and data services to the entire African continent. The satellite began commercial operations in January 2012 and is becoming a prime carrier of African satellite communications traffic in both broadcast and data services.
