Puerto Rico’s OneLink Communications is upping its HDTV cable offering from 25 to 78 HD channels. Liberty Media is in the process of buying OneLink in a deal announced in June, subject to local regulatory approval. Liberty already operates on the island and has some 80,000 pay-TV subs. Bringing the two companies together will boost Liberty’s total subscriber count to around 165,000 subs.
OneLink’s basic tier will now include 33 HD channels.
DirecTV and Dish Network both supply DTH services into Puerto Rico. Liberty/OneLink will still occupy third place on the island even after the merger.
