Hitron Technologies selects TwonkyServer
September 6, 2012
PacketVideo has announced that its Twonky Server software has been selected by Hitron Technologies for use in their DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Gateway. Adding the TwonkyServer will enable Service Provider subscribers to seamlessly discover, access, manage and stream digital videos, music and photo content around the home, on Smartphones/tablets and even in the cloud.
Twonky’s device profile database will enable Hitron’s DOCSIS 3.0 cable gateway to not only interface seamlessly with DLNA devices, but a whole list of quasi-DLNA or even non DLNA devices, such as the Apple TV and Game Consoles, etc. For Service Providers, this becomes extremely important to ensure compatibility of devices outside their domain which are currently in the market or may be introduced in the future. Ultimately this will enhance a subscriber’s experience, improving satisfaction and minimising service calls.
