Having announced late May that it would be releasing acclaimed movie The Hunger Game on Blu-ray Disc, DVD, on demand and digital download on August 18, global entertainment company Lionsgate has confirmed that the title, which has generated more than $683 million at the box office, is to be available through UltraViolet channels such as Walmart’s Vudu and through Flixster.com, the Warner Bros.-owned movie recommendation website. The movie will be the first Lionsgate title released under the digital rights authentication and cloud-based ecosystem.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed the initiative in a conference call with analysts following release of the company’s Q1 results. A code for accessing an UltraViolet copy of the film will be included with copies of the film on disc.
