August 6, 2012
With the deadline for conversion of cable system to digital format in four metros ending on October 31st, just half of households in Mumbai have been covered with STBs. A review by the I&B Ministry has revealed that 50 per cent of cable TV homes in the metropolis have already been installed with STBs. While there is an estimated requirement of 348,500 STBs, 170,700 STBs have been installed, officials in the Ministry said.
The earlier deadline for Phase I digitalisation in four metros — New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai — was June 30th but has now been extended to October 31st.
