No merger for ViaSat/Canal Digital

Any prospects of a merger, acquisition or other co-operation between Scandinavia’s two major pay-TV players was firmly ruled out as unlikely by the CEO of Modern Times Group/ViaSat’s Hans-Holger Albrecht.
Albrecht, quoted by Bloomberg, said he was more focused on expanding MTG/ViaSat’s asset base in eastern Europe and Africa and to also expand ViaSat’s on-line activity in pay-TV.
Albrecht added that MTG was proactive in terms of new markets such as Africa, as well as its continued interest in Eastern Europe.
