Evertz introduces new compression platform
June 14, 2012
Evertz, the Complete Solution Provider, will introduce its new 3480 Media eXchange platform to the European market at ANGA Cable exhibition in Germany. The new 3480ENC and 3480TXE were strategically developed to offer high quality and high density H.264/MPEG-2 video encoding and transcoding for broadcasters, IPTV, and cable headends. These products, in addition to the 3480STC (high density Statmux Controller) and VistaLINK Compression Management Software (CMS), provide a turn-key compression system for headends, which guarantee operational cost savings versus the conventional solutions available on the market today.
Evertz’ new 3480 Media eXchange platform is a combination of state of the art compression processing integrated with key system level functionality from Evertz’ extensive video, audio, and VBI processing product lines. The 3480 platform provides the highest density and highest quality H.264 / MPEG-2 distribution video encoding/transcoding/n-screen processing in a 1RU form factor and delivers the best overall value in the market place. In addition to high density encoding/transcoding, the 3480 also offers unique video and audio processing capabilities, such as: input frame syncing,”Intelligain” loudness control acc.to EBU R128, automatic input failover and internal audio and video monitoring.
The 3480 platform offers solid ROI with additional capabilities to encode/transcode for multi-screen delivery. With the added support for segmented streaming protocols, the 3480 platform can solve today’s linear and over-the-top (OTT) content delivery challenges at a lower cost per channel.
