Petra Mateos-Aparicio Morales has stepped down from Hispasat’s board as chairman, a position she has held for the past seven years. In a statement, she said that the time had come for her to resign following the change in Hispasat’s ownership structure and to “facilitate the transition to a new phase for Hispasat”.
Last week, Abertis Telecommunications, already a large shareholder in Hispasat, increased its holdings to almost 50 per cent having acquired Telefonica’s 13 per cent stake.
Morales said she was extremely satisfied with Hispasat’s progress over the seven years she was in office, helping its extraordinary growth and achieving 8th position in the world rankings of satellite operators.
