Technicolor incorporates Quantenna technology
February 22, 2012
Technicolor is supporting the delivery of high-quality video over wireless with the integration of Quantenna Communications’ Wi-Fi 5GHz 4×4 MIMO technology into its next generation set top boxes and access gateways. They will provide users with viewing comfort for all HD video content in the home – wirelessly, without interruption and on all screens simultaneously.
Technicolor plans to incorporate Quantenna technology into its new VDSL home gateways, a dedicated Wi-Fi access point, HD DVRs and Media Servers, as well as within Technicolor’s all-in-one Media Gateway platform.
Equipped with this technology, Technicolor’s new products will eliminate the interruptions or quality degradations that can occur during HD video playback by greatly reducing the data losses that can take place with less sophisticated techniques. Tests conducted by Technicolor have shown that the Quantenna solution offers IP packet losses of less than one in 100 million.
