Media Networks Latin America (MNLA), a subsidiary of telecoms giant Telefonica, has leased a number of transponders on SES’ AMC-4 satellite for a new wholesale DTH service over Latin America.
SES says the deal covers long-term capacity in order for MNLA to expand its pay-TV service across Central America and the Caribbean. The pay-TV service is designed to reach new audiences with a combined lineup of international and regional SD and HD channels.
AMC-4 is located at 67 degrees West, and allows MNLA to meet the DTH demand in Central America and the Caribbean as well as other future growth markets with its existing ground infrastructure, including its teleport in Lima, Peru.
