February 13, 2012
Al Jazeera is to launch two sports channels in France to exploit its acquisition of one of the five packages of Ligue 1.
According to Charles Biétry, Al Jazeera’s sports chief in France, one channel will be positioned as a premium service, while the other will run extended coverage and repeats. Le Parisien reports Al Jazeera plans to charge €20 for access to both channels.
The channels will be launched in the summer, and made available to all platforms.
