France’s broadcasting regulator the Conseil supérieur de l’audiovisuel (CSA) has received 31 applications for six, free-to-air, high definition channel slots available on the country’s digital terrestrial platform.
The CSA launched the tender October 18th 2011, with bids to be submitted this week.
Hearings with eligible bidders will be held between March 5th and 9th, with successful candidates to be selected the middle of the month, and authorisations issued to winning broadcasters before the end of May 2011.
A number of existing broadcast interests are among the bidders, including TF1, M6, Groupe NextRadioTV and NRJ, who have all lodged three bids.
