Super Bowl to be streamed
December 21, 2011
The NFL and NBC have confirmed that they will stream the 2012 Super Bowl online for the first time.
The big game, scheduled for Febrary 5th, will be available via NBCSports.com and NFL.com, as well as select handheld devices via Verizon’s NFL Mobile app.
The deal also includes online access to the Pro Bowl and postseason games like NBC’s Wild Card Saturday doubleheader.
“We are pleased to work with our partners NBC and Verizon to bring our fans more ways to watch their favourite sport during their favourite time of the year,” NFL senior vice president Hans Schroeder said in a statement.
The Super Bowl is traditionally the most-watched TV event of the year. This year’s face-off between the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers attracted 111 million viewers for Fox, 4.5 million more people than last year.
