Vdio from founders of KaZa, Skype and Joost
October 18, 2011
Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, who created KaZaA, Skype, Joost and Rdio, are setting up a service called Vdio.
The startup has $5.6 million backing and is headed by Europlay Capital Advisors’ Semion Smushkevich.
It’s unclear what Vdio will be but it could be an unlimited movie subscription service like Netflix. Currently in closed beta, the service is “coming soon” says Giga.com and scheduled to launch first in the UK.
