Cameron: No need for dual 2D and 3D production
September 12, 2011
James Cameron, director of Avatar, told IBC the dual production model will never work for broadcast, it is simply uneconomic. He said the Cameron Pace Group model (referring the production comany he has founded with Vince Pace, will mix the two.
He announced the launch of CPG in the UK targetting live sports production and using the ‘shadow system’ where they piggy back 2D production on the back of 3D a technique they’ve used widely in the US including at the current US Open Tennis.
CPG aims to provide complete 3D mobile units and supply OB units with its technology.
