Panasonic: Glasses-free 3D in 5 years, not lenticular
July 6, 2011
Speaking at Intellect’s Consumer Electronics event, Panasonic marketing manager Andrew Denham said the problem of glasses free 3DTV will arrive within five years but the solution won’t be lenticular.
So, he confirmed, Panasonic will not be following Philips and Toshiba down the lenticular route. However, he also confirmed that Panasonic could not continue to provide several paies of expensive active shutter glasses with its sets.
Asked if the split over technologies was hindering uptake and popularity he said it was more down to the studio’s poor quality 2D to 3D conversions.
