Best Buy bringing CinemaNow to Canada
June 16, 2011
Best Buy is bringing its CinemaNow online video download service to Canada later this summer, offering users the ability to buy or rent movies online and adding another competitor to Canada’s growing digital media market.
Best Buy and Future Shop intend to launch the service sometime in August with a library of more than 10,000 movie titles. Initially, CinemaNow will be available on computers only. However, the company plans to bring the service to connected TVs, Blu-ray players, mobile devices and video game consoles in the autumn.
Movies from both Sony Pictures and Fox Entertainment will be available via CinemaNow’s Canadian service, and Best Buy is actively working with the other major studios to bring them on board before the service launches mid-summer.
