BBC HD switching to DVB-S2
June 3, 2011
The BBC has confirmed a change to the way it broadcasts HD channels on satellite. The signal on the satellite transponder carrying BBC One HD and BBC HD will upgrade to DVB-S2 on June 6th from its current use of DVB-S, which will open up more capacity for the BBC, for the same amount of spectrum. The changes will mainly affect those who have Freesat, who will need to put their HD box or TV on standby for 30 seconds and then restart.
