Orange sees surge in pay TV subs
May 3, 2011
France Telecom Orange’s first quarter revenues dipped slightly from a year earlier and intensifying competition in its home market also eroded its operating margins. But its European pay TV subscribers grew significantly in the 12 months to March 2011, adding 967,000 customers to reach a total of 4.4 million.
In France, the telco reported 3.711 million customers for its pay-TV services by the end of the first quarter of this year, up 28 per cent from one year previously, while in Poland the number of pay-TV customers rose 38 per cent to reach 577,000 subscribers.
It posted largely in-line results overall on the quarter with revenues of €11.3 billion.
