Israeli billionaire plans Al-Jazeera rival

Israeli businessman Alexander Machkevitch, reputed to be one of the world’s richest men, has revealed he is planning to launch an international TV network to rival Al-Jazeera.
He said that he and a group of unnamed partners are in the early stages of developing the not-for-profit venture. It had no name, nor any agreed location. Machkevitch said the network’s editorial direction would be independent of any government or special interest.
