Amazon movie stream service
February 2, 2011
Amazon is developing a film streaming service to compete directly with Netflix following its full acquisition of LoveFilm. Initially the company is planning to bundle access to the service with Amazon Prime, a premium service that guarantees Amazon customers unlimited free shipping in return for a sign up fee.

The news seems to have been inadvertently leaked as a screen shot, which appeared only briefly before being removed, was revealed by Engadget, the techno gadget blog. The promo said: “Your Amazon Prime membership now includes unlimited, commercial-free, instant streaming of 5,000 movies and TV shows at no additional cost.”
Amazon already offers movies to rent or buy online but would rather establish a subscription based service.
Amazon has some way to go catch up with NetFlix which recently announced it has passed 20 million subs.
