October 22, 2010
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Sogecable, Spain’s largest pay-TV group and owner of Cuatro, has been re-branded as Prisa TV. It will hold all Prisa’s TV assets: Digital DTH platform, Digital Plus, Cuatro, the Portuguese channel TV1, the production company Plural with offices in Madrid, Lisbon, Miami and Rio de Janerio and the US New York-based channel Vme.
Prisa TV will be lead by Manuel Polanco, the new president of the holding company replacing Rodolfo Martin Villa. The board of directors will have new members: Pierre Lescure, who was CEO of Canal+ France for over ten years as well as vice-president of Canal+ España from 1989 to 2002; Markus Tellenbach, president and CEO of TVN Group, Poland’s leading media group; and Fernando Martínez, secretary-general of Prisa who was at the helm of Sogecable’s Management, Planning and Finance division from 1998 until 2009
