UPC Nederland has demonstrated its new ‘Remote Recording’ application. This will allow UPC Digital TV customers, when they are traveling or online at work to set up recording on their UPC Media boxes from their iPhone, iPad, other mobile browsers or online. ‘Remote Recording’ is available as a free service to customers. The service has been developed in collaboration with the Dutch media company Service2media.
‘Remote Recording’ enables UPC clients using a Media Box equipped with a recording option to view the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) and then set up a recording for a programme. The client can also receive a reminder or confirmation of this by e-mail of via iPhone Push. With this application UPC also gives its customers the option of performing searches for programs, setting up their favorite channels, recording entire series in one go, getting TV tips and viewing clips from the top 10 on-demand films. ‘Remote Recording’ will be made available to Dutch customers in October and November.
UPC expects to add more user functions to this application in the near future, such as customers viewing their own UPC account. UPC Broadband, will also introduce the ‘Remote recording’ application to other operating affiliates in 2011. CI+ module Today, UPC also announced the introduction of the digital TV module (CI+), a plug-in card for the TV based on the CI+ protocol (Common Interface Plus) in the Netherlands.
